Since 2014, Tackle the Trail™ has become a destination event as Northeast CT’s unique race in an amazing place. Always the third Saturday in October, the race offers various distances: marathon, marathon relay (up to 5 runners per team), ½ marathon, 10K, and TackleJR. The scenic course traverses 26.2 miles of the northern portion of the Air Line State Park Trail from Windham through downtown Putnam, CT during the peak fall foliage season. With registration closing at midnight on October 4th, there is still time to sign up and secure your spot.
Race Director Monique Wolanin, a lifelong runner and former cross-country coach shared, “Each year, we are proud to welcome runners from near and far to Tackle the Trail and to our community. Tackle embodies the spirit of northeast CT, including our many local partners, sponsors, and 130 volunteers. The best part is that race proceeds support Windham County residents pursuing their higher education goals.”
Tackle the Trail™ has quickly grown to become a nationally recognized race, with runners from 35 states and five countries over the 13-year history of the event. As race day approaches, there are many ways to take part in Tackle the Trail, as a runner, a sponsor, or volunteer. All race information, including registration and volunteer sign-ups, is available at https://tacklethetrail.org/.
